Nursery Tour

Changing Table with receiving blankets,
diaper supplies, car seat, and rocker
Crib, homemade blankets, bouncer,
bookshelf, baby bathtub, swing,
diaper bag and stuffed animals
Here is the finished product. We posted a few pics back at 17 or 18 weeks when we had the furniture, but now her room is filled with all the wonderful "goodies" that our fabulous friends and family gave her. We are definitely running out of space! Glad we have everything we need! The basement is filled with a bunch of stuff too, like her bassinet, extra car seats, feeding chairs etc. *click on pics to make larger*
Here is another shot of the crib with wallflower details.
The valance matches the bedding. The brown blanket was
handmade by B's Godmother, Auntie Amy.

Closet filled with adorable clothes, diapers,
pack n' play, blankets and her activity gym.
The bins on top are filled with clothes for when
she gets older.
The room is pastel green, as you can see, with blue and pink accents. We painted the bookshelf, fan blades, wipe shelf and the letters of her name blue. Originally we started out with an animal theme of doves, giraffe's, turtle's, suns and green leaves (that match the walls) but we ended up taking the giraffe and running with the jungle theme, so that is what it more or less is now, especially giraffes.
Here is the last wall with a few jungle pictures
and the toy chest filled with all sorts of fun toys

Thats pretty much it. As you can see we are very prepared and are so excited to meet the little bundle of joy who will be using all of these colorful things. We know it wont be too long before she is asking to repaint her room and put up pictures of singers in place of the giraffes, so we definitely wont be taking one second for granted! The countdown begins at only 44 more days!

Baby Shower in Inver Grove Heights

Had my second baby shower today. My aunt Betsy hosted at her house in Inver Grove Heights. It was such a great time! She had egg bake, muffins, bacon & fruit for brunch and even made a fun "Memory" game for us to play, with baby terms. I was totally lost on it half the time, but my guests seemed to understand so it was still a lot of fun.
Opening Jodi's gift. My mom is keeping
record of the gift so I can send
thank you's out later
Guests in attendance were my dad's sisters, my girl cousins on the Hannasch side (and my cousin Sam's girlfriend Carrie), My Grandma Hannasch, Shirley, My sister, mom and her cousins. My aunt Jodi on the Byland side and even my second cousin (once removed) Angela, who I have not seen in forever! Everyone seemed to have a really great time and definitely enjoyed the nice big air conditioned house. :-)

the "Memory" candy game.
Of course there were fantastic gifts as well. In fact, I can say as of today- after both my baby showers, Matt and I do believe we have everything we will need for Baby girl for at least the first year of her life, which is very exciting and unexpected! We thought for sure we'd end up buying at least half the things we needed ourselves. Thank you SO much for the generosity of all our friends and family. She is definitely going to be a lucky little girl. A few guests even put the energy into making homemade baby blankets, which I thought was beyond cool.

It is definitely times like this when I am reminded how amazing our friends and family are and I look forward to sharing the joy of our little one with all of you.

Baby Shower @ The Rum River Pavillion- Now with Pics!

Me in my polka dot dress opening
presents! Also trying to avoid the
balloons in my face ;-)
My first baby shower was this past Sunday. I was going to wait until to update I had pictures to show you, but that might be a few more days yet.

The shower was thrown by my mother-in-law, Shirley and my sister-in-law, Amy. It was held outside at the Rum River South Pavillion in Anoka, Attended by 29 adults and kids. The weather was gorgeous, with only a few spotty showers here and there. We chatted, ate a lovely little picnic and of course opened presents! We got a lot of stuff we really needed, including a diaper genie, swing and lots of great (pink!) toys, clothes and accessories.
Catherine's friend Kirsten with
Matt's Grandma (Doris) DeYoung
and Emily & Kathy in the back.

As you will see by the pictures when I get them up, the pavillion was decorated beautifully. There was a banner made by Amy's MIL that said "Welcome B******" and pink and brown decorations everywhere. Even a pink chair with balloons for me to sit in!

Matt's Aunt Kathy, Cousin Kerri, Aunt Lori
and little Sarah (behind Grandma Kathy)
It was an interesting mix of people. Most of the women in Matts family, friends from high school, other friends, my Grandma and Aunt Karen, my brother's girlfriend, and even a good friend from my past. Everyone seemed to get along well and I tried to mingle with everyone the best I could.

Matt's cousin Jenny and Sister Amy
with baby Eli
Overall I thought it was a great success. Shirley and Amy put a lot of effort into making it special and it most certainly was! I had a great time and am looking forward to using all of the fun stuff I brought home.

Love,
Catherine & B.

New Nursery Chair!!

After a few months of sporadically sitting in the glider we got for the nursery, I decided I hated it. There was no way I was going to be able to nurse for hours in that thing! It's hard and squeaky and wobbly. In any case, I was back on the hunt for a comfy chair at a good bargain. At this point I was not so concerned with matching the colors of the room, but finding something I wouldnt want to throw out the window after the second night. Fortunately Craigslist came to the rescue once again. This one is called a swivel glider rocker, and is soo much more comfortable. Matt picked it up on his way home from work and I couldnt be happier. :-)

Nesting

This weekend was so much fun. Saturday night was Peter & Cassie's bachelor and bachelorette parties. Our party started at Majors in Apple Valley and ended up at her cousin's house for a bonfire. It was a blast! Lots of great girls to chat with and awesome food. I even enjoyed a virgin margarita ;-).

Saturday night we moved the office downstairs and moved the baby furniture upstairs. Matt put together the crib, which was totally a picture perfect moment, and I sanitized everything from top to bottom. Too bad we still dont have a camera.

Now all we have to do is pick up some blinds, a rug and paint the walls and we are good to go!
